Runtime error when installating EH
Runtime error: abnormal program termination when opening a database in EH
Typical error when installing EH under Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 64-bit. Error messages are Runtime error and registering module Rmsrv4.dll
Solution for Windows 7 and Vista
During the installation of the EH program when the Folio Components locks up on a dll file, just close it out. The installation will continue. The file can be installed manually once the rest of the installation is complete.
Once EH is installed:
- Start the Windows explorer or click on the Start button and choose Computer
- Go to C:\EH
- Right click on the AutoReg file, left click on Properties
- Under the Compatibility Tab change the Compatibility Mode to Windows 7. Click on Apply and then OK. Close the window.
- Go back to the AutoReg file, right click, and select Run As Admin... (Make sure you have Admin privileges for the computer)
- Once that step is complete, go back to the AutoReg file and double click to install it. This time you should see the Folio finish running with no error.
- From the desktop, right click on the EH icon. In the pop-up menu, click on Properties, click on the Compatibility Tab and make sure that the Compatibility mode is also set for Windows 7. Click on Apply and then on OK. Click here to see this illustrated.
- From the desktop icon, now right click and Run As Admin. The program should open. Pick your set of books.
The next time you want to open the EH program, you will only have to click on the desktop icon. These steps will not need to be repeated.
Note
If the autoreg file does not appear to register and EH continues to lock up, also change the compatibility of the EH.exe file to Windows 7.
Solution for Windows 8
Follow the steps as described above but under the compatibility tab choose Windows 7 or Windows 8.
